- Birth: 1820 in Pinner
- Marriage: 14th May 1844 to Anne Shepherd
- Death: 1855 aged 35
George Frederick was always listed as an agricultural labourer. He only lived with his parents until 1841 so did not live in the farm cottage on Rayners Lane.
George married Anne Shepherd on 14th May 1844. When they married George is shown as living at 56 Leather Lane and Anne is living at 2 Bakers Row both in London. They married at St Andrew’s in Holborn.
By 1845 George and his wife had moved in with his mother-in-law Sarah Shepherd, who kept the White Hart beer shop in the High Street, though he was still working as an agricultural labourer. They had 3 children there. Phoebe was born in 1845, George in 1847 and Thomas in 1852.
Ann died in November 1853 aged just 33.
Ann’s mother Sarah raised the three young children after her daughter died, with their father George dying not long after in 1855 aged 35. This must have been a struggle for Sarah, even though her son Thomas was living with her, as she still seems to be running the pub as her occupation is listed as ‘beer retailer’.
The 1861 census still shows them all living with Sarah but at some point after that Phoebe marries George T Carpenter.
In 1871 George and Thomas were still living with Sarah and her own son Thomas aged 44.
Phoebe died in 1891. Thomas and George lived a lot longer, dying in 1922 and 1923.
George and Anne’s 3 children:
Phoebe: 1845 – 1891
George: 1847 – 1923
Thomas: 1852 – 1922
