After the last Daniel Hill died in 1906 the bulk of the land on the east side of the lane was let to James Smith, and a new farmhouse was built about 1915 well to the north of the cottages. Originally named Lankers Brook Farm, from the name of the field on which the house stood, it was occasionally called Lankers Farm, Brook Farm, or even Rayners Lane Farm. The building is still there and has been converted to an ordinary house.
